  • 2010.

How did you spend the last day of 2009?

Countdown parties in town's not my thing as usual, so I was with some of the team @ the Brewerkz near my place having a cozy dinner away from noise and crowds. Shepherd's pie was good, and so was Iguana Rita.

Headed back home and played Monopoly, which I ultimately won. Apparently I read everywhere that January's my lucky month, so I hope this streak will continue~. =) It's about time I get lucky eh? It's my time, my chance.

Cheered with our individual boozes when the clock struck twelve, and messages started to come in, but I wasn't in the right state to reply, so Happy New Year! I'll wish you all personally when I see you. =)

Sx, Bear, and Angie stayed over.

On the first day of 2010, Sx, Bear and I decided to complete one mission each.
I had my hair dyed copper red, and apparently my super jet black hair was kinda stubborn to change colour, so the effect wasn't at all dramatic, but I kinda like the end effect all the same, because it blends well. The motto was to be low key, and not be like some attention seeking people with irritating voice and freaky actions.

Took a bus to Clem and Sx had her ears pierced, the same place where the three of us went to get me a second piercing the other time. And we had our Milk Tea at the same place as well.
I hope our team resolutions will be accomplished this year alright? I'll do my part.

So we did some talking last night and I've decided to take their advices and turn them into my personal resolutions.

    1. Listen to my heart more, give it a chance to speak and ask my head to shut up once in a while.
    2. Driving License - full steam ahead. (This was a repeat of 2009, because on a second thought, there's no point getting it when there's no car to drive in 2009! 2010 is different because if I really go off to Berkeley or UCLA then there is a need for a car, so there, I aim to complete it in 2010.)
    3. Change my eating habit. (I've been eating garbage and skipping meals or combining meals when I'm alone at home, so this year I'm gonna treat myself better - with good food, no matter what.)
    4. Take up dancing lessons. (CHAN CHAN! I book you to go with me okay!)
    5. Start playing the guitar again
    6. Be nice to people even though I may not like some of them (this is the most challenging one, I hope I'll manage okay)

ok that's all. 2010 started well. May it go well all year. =)

  • the end is a new beginning.

Hello Lion City, I miss you.
I'm booked for the night, so let me store all my thoughts right now in this entry.

2009 ended after I experienced my first White Christmas in Korea.

I also went home for a short while, to be with the family and for Dad's birthday.

Finally, the annual end of the year reflections.

Year 2009 is just how I wanted it to be, peaceful, yet eventful.
I grew up a lot this year. Tolerated more, cared more, helped more, thought more.

Major stuff like internship, and then earning my first diploma after 3 semesters of extra work compared to most of my peers, where the reward was also extra sweet. And also going on a short trip Redang island with sx and bear and snorkeled for the first time. Not to forget the recent Korea Trip and my first ski experience. Spending time with nephew and hearing him call me GuGu was the most amazing thing in my life so far. I also made the decision to try to apply for Universities in the States, and if they do accept me, I'd go.

I was in control of my temper this year, holding out nasty comments to people, but I did my share of eye-rolling and cursing silently and behind their backs, not gonna deny that. I'm just thankful, once again this year, just like every year, that I always find the right group of friends with the right influence. Can't imagine how I would turn out without them.

As usual, every year I lost some old friends, and then gained some new ones. It's an inevitable process I guess.

    So there.
2009's gone forever, and will only stay as a memory. Make sure the memories will hold you up, and not pull you down.
    Goodbye 2009. You've been great.

  • The changes that you just have to get used to.

Maybe one day this thought will come into your head.
    It hit me today.

    This happens when:
    1. You won't be able to call yourself a teen anymore. (in my case, in less than 2 months time).
    2. You realise that you no longer have curfews.
    3. Your parents are not worried when you are home alone for months.
    4. Your parents agree to let you go overseas without them.
    5. They let you make your own decisions and trust your judgments.
    6. You predict some of your friends will get married soon.
    and the list goes on.

Friends around me have changed since the day we first met (definitely, because I have changed too!), some for the better, some can do better. Some have plans for the future, some are still dreaming, still in lalaland, waiting for don't know what. A handful may get married soon. (looks at hayati and julia, whose relationships with their other half are already on the solid side.) Just by looking at them from a 3rd person point of view, and the commitments that they made to one another, the trust and the bond between them, I can confirm that I'm not ready. Maybe because it's not the right person, and I'm reluctant to forgo any dreams that I have because the real person who's worth giving up my life for has not appeared. I believe that my heart knows when it should take over my head when the time comes. My head's been a really strong fighter so I anticipate that it won't be easy either. But I'm rooting for my heart when it's the right time.

Meanwhile, just go live a life, one that you will be able to look back and be proud of.

After dinner we walked to Shaw Tower for Ice Cream at Tom's Palette.
Fell in love with Chocolate Stout straight away. Ordered a mix of Chocolate Stout and Granny's Favourite. Yum Yum.
